Mike Axinn, co-producer and editor

Mike joined Materially Speaking in Summer 2022 and co-produced the episodes in Venice, Paris and Liguria, as well as a number of the podcasts on the Pietrasanta community. With his passion for sound design he is particularly excited about our episode on sound as a material in the renovation of Notre Dame, scheduled for release in 2024.

Mike Axinn

As a digital content professional with a successful career as an innovator in film, video, podcasting, technology, web content and sound design, Mike has done groundbreaking work on behalf of such companies as Nokia, Roche/Genentech, Salesforce, Google, Facebook, LucasFilm, 20th Century Fox, Nextracker, ThermoFisher and the California Health Department.

Mike worked as a sound editor on over three-dozen feature films, including Star Wars, Moulin Rouge, Titanic and The English Patient, both of which won the Academy Award for Best Sound and Best Picture. He was nominated for a Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Award for his work on Moulin Rouge. 

Mike teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in sound design and creates educational media for business, non-profit, government and educational institutions.

He has a long time connection with the Pietrasanta area and says he is constantly amazed at unearthing more and more creative people in this very special community.
